Running and Injuries

So Last weekend was my last big weekend before the Marathon. 35km at 4:30min pace on Sat, and stupidly the Sun Run on Sunday. Both runs went well, with finishing the Sun Run in 38min50sec. However I pulled up with a good bout of Achilles Tendonitis on Monday. Thus I am now on physio directions to take it easy until the Marathon in the hope that I will be able to run it. So now I'm onto gym and swimming to fill in the lack of training. Oh well, injuries happen.

End Of Season Mt Seymour

Nick and I hit up Mt Seymour last Sunday after the sun run.....We thought we'd be getting soft spring conditions, instead a storm blew through depositing a good half foot of fresh and we scored first turns on Brockton Chair. Sent it off a few fun small cliffs and rode some nice soft fun tree lines. In the end, epic day.

Whistler

We were lucky enough to get some late season pow at whistler! Such an amazing way to return to BC. We stayed over night and got blue skies and dry pow on day one, and soft dry snow and blue skies on day 2. Hit up Blackcomb, spankys ladder, couloir extreme with Kate and Nick.

Adelaide

We were back in Adelaide for our wedding. It was great to be back with friends and family. We had so much fun hanging out with everyone and made sure that we tried to explore and get out and about amongst all the wedding planning.

Marathon Training and the Thrive Diet

So I am ramping up for my second Marathon. I will be participating in the 2013 BMO Marathon and have set some goals to try and hit. I have given myself a few months longer to prep this year so hopefully I will be able to post a significantly faster time than last year. In conjunction with this training, I am also trying out a new nutrition plan, based on Brendan Braziers "Thrive" series of books on plant based sports nutrition. The books are super interesting and are written from the perspective of a professional Iron Man Triathlete and the dietary requirements for high level sports training. A month and a half in and I am seeing significant results in performance and general day to day mood. I finally got some new running kicks. The same ones from last season, ASICS ds trainers. Nice and light weight, feel like they aren't on your foot. They were going super cheap at Running Room, two pairs for $250. New Running Kicks
